Causes and effects of water pollution: scientific review

Abstract
When pollutants reach water sources, the water becomes unsafe for drinking, cooking, washing, bathing, and many other daily activities. Pollutants include contaminants, garbage, pathogens, and worms. Soil contamination can seep into an underground river, then into a river, and finally into the sea. This article addresses the following topics: an introduction to river pollution, categories of water pollution, effects of freshwater pollution, and types of water pollution. Water pollution has become a global concern, requiring regular reviews of water resource management to combat it. Human activities, including industrialization and agricultural practices, have greatly contributed to the degradation and pollution of the environment, which has an adverse effect on water bodies that are essential for life. This document attempts to basically analyze what water pollution is and also addresses the sources, control of the effects, and the management of water pollution as a whole. Both industrialized and developing countries are concerned about water pollution. Water quality is influenced by rain, temperature, soil type, flora, geography, circumstances, underground freshwater, and human activity. These studies will help future research to understand the overall description of water pollution and seek solutions to this major problem.
